The Voices Within
Maybe the voices within us don’t need control or silence—just a different kind of listening.

We all have voices within us.
Voices that keep us going. That keep us hooked. That keep us honest—and sometimes, not so honest.
Some call them inner critics.
Some call them limiting beliefs.
Some say they motivate us.
And some say they hold us accountable.
Experts might call it the subconscious mind.
Whatever name we give it, one thing is true, these voices are not always right.
And they are not always acting in our best interest. They are not even the part of us that knows us the best. They are simply… processors.
Processing everything that has ever been fed into them, intentionally or unintentionally.
We’ve all heard it before: garbage in, garbage out.
What we see, what we hear, what we surround ourselves with, and more importantly, what we choose to ignore, all of it gets stored.
And then, it gets processed.
It tries to make sense of everything. Not necessarily in the right way. But in the only way it knows how.
Meditation can help us hear these voices more clearly.
Pauses and space can help us reflect on them.
But hearing them clearly doesn’t make them true.
And understanding them doesn’t automatically make them right.
Sometimes, these voices need something else from us.
Not blind belief.
Not suppression.
But gentle listening.
Almost like listening to a two-year-old, trying to express something with the limited understanding they have.
You don’t dismiss them.
You don’t blindly agree either.
You listen. You let them express fully. And then, you help them go deeper.
Because what they say on the surface is not always what they truly need.
And maybe, that’s the real work. Not silencing the voices within, but learning how to listen, question, and gently guide them…
Until they lead us closer to what we truly crave.
